2007 Cross Country Season Schedule

Last scheule update was on August 27, 2007.

Any questions about the schedule need to be directed to Coach Jack Pressmann at 610-820-0761. Athletes: If you are unable to make a practice or meet you MUST notify Coach Pressmann by calling him ahead of time. E-mail or relaying a message through a teammate is NOT an acceptable method of informing the Coach!

Spaghetti dinners are hosted by Seniors' familes, typically the night before a race. The host family provides the spaghetti & meatballs, and all participants are asked to bring a drink or desert or cups & utensils for all to share. These dinners insure that racers get the appropriate carbohydrates prior to a meet. They are also important team-building and social events. All are encouraged to attend.

A Brief Tour of the ACCHS XC Course

Click the image above to take a tour of our course. Note: the tour will open a new window & load photos that will total 1 Mb in size.
The Lehigh Parkway is home to Central Catholic's cross country course. The 3.1 mile course makes a single loop around the heart of the park. The course is run mostly on a crushed cinder path, with brief stretches of grass. There are several mild grades along the course with no challenging hills or slopes. Runners will cross the Little Lehigh Creek twice including a tour on Bogert's Bridge, a 145-foot covered bridge built in 1841.

A brief walk-through of the course:

  • The starting line is located in a grassy area to the east of Kline's Bridge in the center of Lehigh Parkway.
  • Runners will cross under the bridge and head south towards Bogert's Bridge. A cinder path will lead the runners over mild grades crossing open fields and into wooded areas.
  • Bogert's Bridge is located at the southern tip of the course. There is a small macadam grade approaching the bridge. The bridge and surrounding areas have no steps, only small inclines.
  • After coming out of the bridge, runners will turn north and head back towards Kline's Bridge. The path is relatively flat along this stretch.
  • Proceed along the cinder path under Kline's Bridge. The third quarter of the course continues along a path though wooded areas which provide shade. Runners will be heading north towards Robin Hood Bridge. The final approach to this bridge includes a modest downhill slope.
  • Robin Hood Bridge allows runners to cross the creek at the east end of the course. After crossing, runners will head west towards the finish line.
  • Most of the final quarter of the race is also run on a cinder path. The final hundred yards are over grass.
